Kusasi, once was a very powerfull king in Tanjung Puting National Park. He is 40 something years old now… Still in good shape, eventhough little bit slower than he used to… He become a legend… because he was the first King we’ve known since Dr. Birutte founded this National Park… His kingdom was taken over by his own son, Tom, through a territory fight. He lost it, so he has to run away from his own kingdom… Yes… Kusasi is an Orang Utan.

To meet Kusasi is a rare moment… Little bit impossible… because like the other orang utan, even the Ranger regularly provide them food every 2 pm but its their own option to take the food or not… They still live freely in the Park… without cages… Living in their own wildlife in around 300.000 hectares of rainforest called Taman National Tanjung Puting. And Kusasi, believe it or not… still has its own charism, even he no longer the King of the Jungle. It’s for real… most of Orang Utan afraid of the rangers but The Rangers afraid of Kusasi… I heard Kusasi still has power to smack down, bite and other animal self defence to everyone, anything who disturb him… No ranger want to take risks by geting closer with him… I was lucky to meet him…

To get to Tanjung Puting itself , its another effort… You need to hit the town of Pangkalan Bun if you were out of Borneo Island. You can reach Pangkalan Bun by Linus Airways fly everyday from Terminal C Soekarno Hatta Airport Jakarta (the ticket is around a million rupiah per way – 2 mio rupiah round trip) depart at arround 11 am, arrived in P. Bun at 12pm … From Pangkalan Bun you need to go to the Kumai port around 45 minutes ride from it… Then you need to rent an traditional boat (called klotok) or speed boat. Rental rate of a klotok is around Rp 650.000,- round trip in one day.. or Rp 350.000,- round trip if you stayed in Tanjung Puting. For speed boat i think its more expensive than klotok

Then you will experiencing a joyfull boat ride along Sekonyer River for 4 hours (dont forget to bring your own food – or you may ask the boat owner to cook you a light meal like indomie..)… Beware guys dont getting too close to the water (OR swimming on it) because according to Germany Researcher (Rene M Bonke) Sekonyer river is the best habitat for crocodiles…

15 – 30 minutes along the river you will find Mangrove forest, then after that you will find nypa palm along it… 1,5 hour ride you will meet Sekonyer Village, then Pesalat Camp around an hour from the village. After 3 hours ride the boat need to turn right at Muara Ali .. you will see the difference of the water’s color here, before you turn right the river is like a coffee with creamer… then when you entering Muara Ali you’ll find it dark red… If you take the ride in the afternoon you will meet some animals spending their leisure time up on the tree along the river, like Orang Utan (Pongo Pygmaeus), Kera ekor panjang (Macaca Fascicularis), Owa, bekantan and some birds flying over the river… Just dont turn your eyes away from the top of the trees there… Arond an hour from Muara Ali you will arrived in Camp Leakey, our destination… The retribution to enter the camp is arroung US$ 5 per person per day if you are an International tourist or Rp 5000 per person per day if you local tourist.

There… you need to take a walk on a track made from Ulin wood for 15 minutes before you meet Post 1.. Camp Leakey itself was founded by Dr. Birutte Gadikas and her husband Rod Brindamour researcher of Orang Utan in 1971…

Then the most wonderful moment is meet the Orang Utans themself… The act of them… so suprisingly like human.. how they rubs and take care their children, how they eat, how they react on us… they sneezing also… hahaha… Like Princess for example, she’s the smartest one, she can respond some instruction like when the ranger ask “Mau apa?” – “What do you want” then she respond by move her hand to her mouth explaining that she wants to eat.. , she can ride the boat straight (even human, we hardly ride it straight) and others…

Note : If you planned to stay in Camp Leakey, there’s a hotel called Rimba Lodge near the camp (I heard the rate is US$ 80 per night per room) or you could home staying in Sekonyer Village, or camping in Pesalat Camp…

Uuh uh.. I was blushed … and thank her for the compliment….

And here I am… on my birhtday… turning 30… in the middle of nowhere… Alone… with few of not so well known friends… This is exactly the way I want to spend my 30 birthday is… No partying, no drinking, no one … just me and my own… Perfect time to contemplate…And ofcourse shit happen .. I try to keep my birthday out of my colleagues.. but sure few of them acknowledged it .. (thanks dear friend… ) even my housemate gave me a sweet little surprise party…  Im so grateful to have you girls…

To be honest,  there are no resolution has been made during last new years eve…  Its was not the right time to made a resolution… This time it is… on the day when I was born… I need to improve, retake control…  I try to evaluating my life for these past 30 years… well I have dozens of bad habits that I should eliminate :

1. Smoking… I’ve been counting how many cigars I smoke for a day… I smoke 8 -10 cigars a day, means that I burned Rp 20.000,- every 3 days.. and also harrash my lung each time I smoke
2. Drinking … last time I remembered I bought 3 bottles of alcohol and drank it during my home leave last december..  I havent been drinking since then…
3. Anti mineral waters .. My my my very bad habit.. I dont like mineral water, For me there’s only 1 type of drink that I can take everyday .. COFFEE…
4. Delaying tasks… My only weakness on my proffesional carrier, Lazy is my enemy in this point.
5. Negative thinking… I live alone here, and with my previous experience on local people I learn to thinking negative side of every side of aspect in order to keep me warned and alarmed
6. High temper … this small wealth city made people who living on it working in slow motion… And I pushed them to run like I did… I become impatient..
7. Freakin out on everything … sometimes I was automatically freaking out on something and worrying things unnecessary

Refering to my evaluation and hers this is the actions that I shoud take :

1. Stop smoking… Life is good… stop exploits the lung.. thats the idea..
2. Become a social drinker more than a drunker mistress like I used to be
3. In the morning, first thing to do is, drink a glass of water, followed with another when taking my breakfast. 8 glass per day
4. Stop chatting, gossiping, browsing, surfing and other entertaining yet seducing activities during office hour… (ehem…) CARPE DIEM (Just DO It) right away…
5. Always look from the bright side… every time I start to think negatively, try to take a deep breath and smile… then thinking the opposite ways… Its should be work as well when I start to freaking out or impatient on someone….
6. Pray and Go to church every Sunday. Going to church helps me to reflect
7. Go out sometimes, go wild and adventurous …. Go find what’s moved my cheese really is.
8. Try to be more myself … do the right things according my standard, not others as long as the goal reached… Believe in GOD and the universe… Believe that I Can Do It…

About relationship :

1. Family goes first… they are invaluable…
2. In any kind of relationship trust is a must… Build your own trust to others and be honest so they could trust you… Be confident in order to make a new relationship, or to maintain it… Im Worthy of it… be compromise without compromising myself, means that be more tolerable by understands them more than agreed with them, but don’t lower the standard only to pleased other (licking someone ass is a BIG NO). If I stay confident then people will see me as a shining star even Im short or fat…
3. Keep people who depend on you… be a good friend to others. Friendship is important, it’s a stress releaser.
4. Love will come when I’m least expect it… I musn’t be together with someone I love, realize that someday they will hurt you, so what? Make a peace and move on…

My previous blog became a dear diary kind a thing… and many friends, relatives, ex BFs (Now you know what the real reason is) was monitoring my posts..  So I hardly express my thoughts without having a strange mobile messages or a telephone calls in the very next day…. lol… So I need to emerge to anonym OR… writes in other site of this world… hahaha…
